Philips Research Laboratories

Philips Research investigates, in collaboration with Southampton University, new technologies for single cell impedance spectroscopy in small volume fluid samples. The microfluidic platform technology can measure the size, type and number of red blood cells, platelets and white blood cells in a small volume of blood. The cells flow at high speed through a tiny 40-µm wide channel and are detected as they pass through a focussed high-intensity electric field.
