Career
For 23 years I have contributed to the improvements in genetics and health of animals for food production. These have been major drivers of the growth in global food production and the improvement in food security.
2007- present. Group Director for Science and Technology of the EW Group.
2005-2007. Science and Technology Coordinator for the EW Group. The EW Group includes Aviagen plus the Lohmann and Hy-Line layer breeding companies, AquaGen, a salmon breeding company and companies involved in the production of SPF poultry, animal health and nutrition products.
2002-2005. Vice President for Science for the Aviagen Group (this includes Ross Breeders, Arbor Acres, LIR, Nicholas Turkeys and British United Turkeys).
1987-2002. Geneticist and Biotechnologist, Ross Breeders (now Aviagen Group).
Responsible for technologies in genetics and health including retrovirus eradication programmes and welfare strategies.
1982-1987.Senior Scientific Officer, Poultry Research Centre (later Roslin Institute). Research on quantitative and molecular genetics of poultry.
1977-1982. Lecturer in Genetics and Animal Breeding, Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland. Research on quantitative and molecular genetics.
