Jim Shaw, Bentley Motors Limited, Head of Concepts
Jim Shaw studied Mechanical Engineering with Automotive Design at Coventry University and chartered as a Mechanical Engineer before completing a Masters degree in Engineering Business Management at the University of Warwick, all under the Sponsorship of the Rover Group.
Before he came to Bentley he worked in the creation and realisation of vehicle concepts across all of the brands previously owned by the Rover group; from Mini to Range Rover, MG to Defender and all classes of Rover cars somewhere in between. As part of the BMW group he also worked on a number of projects and initiatives at the headquarters in Munich. As an automotive design engineer working in packaging, style feasibility and advanced vehicle research he developed the skills now used to head up the Bentley Concept Engineering department.
Working for Bentley he has responsibilities and dealings with all of the VW group technical departments, Predominantly with Audi, Bugatti and Porsche.
His motivations include defining the processes for evaluation of Bentley vehicle concepts to a greater pace and accuracy whilst empowering a design engineering culture for research and development in low volume, high value added techniques and technologies.
