Vassilios Albanis PhD, Business Development Consultant, IIS

An experienced research and development scientist with an extensive research background and technology commercialisation experience. Vassilios has previously worked both in the commercial and academic R&D sectors. In his last position, he was the Applications Specialist with Phase Focus Limited, a successful microscopy start up, where he developed the applications portfolio and the company’s prototype unit. He is also working as a consultant with the Yorkshire Photonics Network, bringing together academics and commercials into a unified network of Photonics technology in Yorkshire and Humber.

As business development consultant with IIS, Vassilios works closely with early stage companies as well as established commercials, providing consultancy advice and support. He is also performing research and technology reviews and due diligence on behalf of IIS clients to identify innovative technologies and new business opportunities to facilitate growth and company diversification.

Vassilios has previously worked at the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of Southampton and at The Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. He holds a PhD in Laser Physics (Southampton) and a BSc in Physics (Sussex).
