Michael Kohn, CEO, StickyWorld
In his early career Michael explored the lack of consumer choice in housing through various competitions including the HangerHouse, winner of the Concept House 2000. Observing that production of the built environment relied heavily on collaborative practices and design feedback between clients and end users, he concluded that user-centric design ideas in architecture and housing would only be viable using purpose built software.Accordingly,
Michael completed an MSc in Computing and Design in 2004. Upon meeting Estonian architect Renee Puusepp they set about establishing a new type of practice combining architecture and computing capabilities. Thus, Slider Studio was born, being named after the slider controls available to change design parameters in Michael and Renee’s earliest software prototypes. Slider began offering automation of design methods and building purpose software on top of mainstream CAD packages to large practices. The team soon moved into online 3D virtual environments for more immersive communication between clients and end users and now offers architectural, computation, web expertise, and panoramic photography services
Major recent development efforts are directed at StickyWorld, an online design review platform that champions Slider’s agenda of democratic design.
