Elaine Martin OBE, Knowledge Base Partner, Avecia Ltd

Elaine is Professor of Industrial Statistics in the School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials. She has enjoyed a varied career starting life as a civil engineer before moving back to do a second first degree in statistics and then a PhD in the area of environmental statistics.

She was involved as the academic supervisor in a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Avecia Limited, a biotechnology company focussed on the development and manufacture of innovative biotechnology-based medicines. The aim of the project was to develop a statistical framework to assist in the progression of bio-process design and process scale-up to manufacturing levels.
