Sam Hutchins, Research Engineer (CRC), GKN Aerospace Engineering
Sam Hutchins has worked within GKN Aerospace for 15 years. Sam holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and has 11 Years Static Stress Analysis the most recent 5 years of which has been in composite research covering core stress analysis, dealing with concessions and in service repairs.
This has given Sam a firm working knowledge of aircraft structures, methods and analysis as well as experience in design, manufacture, test and certification processes.
This has supported his work on a number of Composite and metallic aircraft projects since he joined the GKN Composite Research Centre at its launch in 2005, where Sam has worked on numerous wide ranging manufacturing and design projects covering all aspects of composite application in the aircraft industry.
Currently in the i-Composites research programme, Sam leads the investigation into transferring the high volume Bentley carbon Fiber delivery processes from an automotive sector application to an aerospace application.
