James Goodman, Head of Futures
Role: Leading the Forum's futures work, using scenarios for strategy development, developing future visions, applying future-proofing techniques and conducting trend analysis. Recent projects include Climate Futures, exploring the different possible responses we could see to climate change by 2030, Retail Futures, looking at alternative future paths for sustainability in the UK retail sector, and scenarios on the future of nanotechnology for the European Commission.
While at Forum for the Future, James has worked extensively on the emerging social and environmental opportunities of the digital economy, and has managed long-term strategic partnerships with a number of Forum for the Future’s business partners in the retail, technology and food sectors. James is co-author of Fishing for Good with Jonathon Porritt, an analysis of the sustainable marine fisheries problem, and Making the Net Work on sustainability in the digital society.
Background: James joined Forum for the Future in 2001, having previously worked as a senior research executive in a leading market research agency.
Education: James has a First Class BA in History from Manchester University
