Dr Martin Griffiths, Lead Technologist – Water, Technology Strategy Board
Dr Martin Griffiths is the Lead Technologist – Water for the Technology Strategy Board. He is working with the water sector to evaluate whether there is a business case for an Innovation Platform or alternative Technology Strategy Board investment in water.
Martin is a senior environmental consultant who has developed water policy at national and international level. Until July 2007, he was the Deputy Director of Regulation in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). For the ten years prior to this he was Head of Water Quality for the Environment Agency. Before this held policy and operational roles with the National Rivers Authority. He previously worked for Thames Water and Thames Water International.
He graduated from London University as a biologist and studied for his MSc at Chelsea College, London. His PhD was gained at Brunel University with a thesis on the real time monitoring of water quality. He was appointed as a Visiting Professor at King’s College, London in 2008.
